General Information
Trees can be ordered, dispatched and planted out at any time of the year. They are delivered in pots with the soil in which they are grown.
First fruits will appear 6-18 months after delivery.
A comprehensive leaflet accompanies each tree and explains the basic care needed, including soils, watering, fertilising, pruning, pests and pot growing.
Stone fruit Tree (we have between 2 and 8 grafts available
per tree)
- combines Peaches, Apricots, Plums, Nectarines and Peachcot
There can be more than one variety of a peach, nectarine, plum or apricot
on the one tree; each variety ripening at different times, e.g. one early
season, one late season.
There are trees with varieties of fruits to suit warm/temperate climates, with other varieties for colder climates.
Tree Height: Trees are grafted so that the fruiting branches begin from about 10 cms above soil level, keeping the height of the trees to a minimum and allowing easy harvesting of the different fruits. This eliminates the need to use dangerous ladders.
- Grown in the ground - approximately 3 metres(10ft) high x 2 metres(6ft) wide
- Grown in containers - approximately 2 metres(6ft) high x 1 metre(3ft) wide
There can be up to two different varieties of oranges and mandarins only. These ripen at different times, one in winter, the other in summer. The more fruits on a tree, the longer the picking season, even all year round.
Only the most popular fruits are chosen for the Citrus Fruit Salad Tree. These are a dwarfing variety of tree and can withstand cold temperatures down to minus 8 degrees centigrade.
Tree Height: Being a dwarfing type, the height is kept to a minimum to allow for easy, safe harvesting of the fruit.
- Grown in the ground-approximately 2 metres(6ft) high x 2 metres(6ft) wide
-
Grown in containers-approximately 1.3 metres(4ft) high
x 1 metre(3ft) wide
Multi-Apples (we have 2, 3 or 4 grafts available per tree) - Warm, Temperate and Cold climates
This tree produces a variety of different apples only. Trees are grafted with 2-4 varieties and possible combinations have red, green and yellow skin apples, ripening over a period of months. Trees are available with varieties that will produce fruit in a broad range of climates. Compatible varieties for cross-pollination purposes are grafted onto the one tree, so only the one tree is required.
Multi-Apples can be espaliered along a trellised wire, a fence or wall or as "stand alone" trees with a height of 2 metres (6ft) high x 2 metres(6ft) wide.
Multi-Nashis (Japanese Pears) (we have 2, 3 or 4 grafts
available per tree)
- Temperate/Cold climates only
What a wonderful fruit this is! Very juicy, yet so crisp, with a thin pear-like
skin and the crispness of an apple. A very popular and delicious fruit that
is easy to grow. Trees have between 2 and 4 types ripening over some months.
The varieties required for cross-pollination purposes are grafted together
so only one tree is required.
Multi-Nashis can be espaliered along a trellised wire, a fence
or wall or as "stand alone" trees with a height of 3 metres (10ft)
high x 2 metres(6ft) wide.
